About the project

In 2021, I took a gap semester to hike the Appalachian Trail for my undergraduate honors thesis in English.

The project was awarded grant funding from Penn State University and allowed me to complete the 2190-mile trail in three and a half months.

 I composed a 120-page reflective piece about the experience. In May 2022, the project was named Runner Up to Best Thesis in the Humanities by the College of Liberal Arts at Penn State.

I was also chosen as commencement speaker for the College of Liberal Arts graduation ceremony in Spring 2022 to speak about my project.
